Database Engineer, SQL Server

What you'll do

• Manage the health, stability, and reliability of production SQL Server environments.
• Diagnose and resolve real-time issues including slow queries, blocking, deadlocks, and resource contention.
• Optimize database performance through advanced T-SQL tuning, indexing strategies, and execution plan analysis.
• Build and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to ensure high availability and proactive incident response.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and SQL Agent jobs to automate manual operations.
• Manage backup/restore processes, disaster recovery planning, and High Availability solutions like Always On.
• Administer database access, permissions, and security configurations to ensure compliance with data protection standards.
• Collaborate with application engineers to troubleshoot issues and improve query efficiency in real time.

What we're looking for

• Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of relevant work experience.
• Candidates must have at least 2 years of relevant work experience if they do not have a Bachelor's degree.
• Experience with T-SQL for query tuning, stored procedures, and performance troubleshooting is preferred.
• PowerShell scripting for automation and operational tasks is preferred.
• SQL Server performance tuning including indexing and execution plans is preferred.
• Experience supporting production systems or on-call environments is preferred.
• Experience with backup/recovery, HA/DR solutions, and observability tools is preferred.
