As a Database Architect Level 2 or 3 (AHT) within the Aurora Software department, you will design, implement, and maintain production and test PostgreSQL databases while managing multiple stored procedures. You will be responsible for architecting database instances across various runtime environments, providing operations support to resolve production issues, and developing automation tooling in collaboration with software teams. The role requires proficiency in Python, experience with Linux environments, and familiarity with tools like GitLab for version control, Jira for sprint management, and Confluence for documentation. You will also manage deployments using Docker Swarm and related technologies. Key technical requirements include advanced PostgreSQL querying, schema design, and performance tuning. This position involves solving complex backend data challenges within an Agile environment to deliver high-quality features while mentoring junior engineers and influencing technical direction.
Design, develop, and maintain production and test PostgreSQL databases across multiple runtime environments.
Architect and manage database instances using Docker Swarm and related container orchestration tools.
Provide operations support by investigating production issues and performing necessary follow-up actions.
Develop database access layers and automation tooling using Python in collaboration with the software team.
Define and promote engineering best practices, including coding standards, testing protocols, and code reviews.
Manage technical documentation and project tasks using Confluence and Jira.
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers while providing technical guidance and constructive feedback.
Communicate technical direction to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What we're looking for
Must possess an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility at the time of application.
U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
Level 2 requires a Bachelor's in Science and 2 years experience, or a Master's and 0 years; Level 3 requires a Bachelor's and 5 years experience, or a Master's and 3 years.
Must have significant professional experience as a Database Engineer with relational databases including schema design, SQL, indexing, and performance tuning.
Must have advanced experience with PostgreSQL, including querying, optimization, migrations, and ORMs.
Must be proficient in Python and experienced working in Linux environments.
Must have experience using GitLab for version control, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines.
Bachelor’s degree in Science with 2+ years of relative.
