Database Advisor

What you'll do

• Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise database solutions across various systems.
• Perform root cause analysis for performance issues, outages, and recurring system problems.
• Design and optimize database structures, including data models, schemas, queries, and indexes.
• Manage migrations, upgrades, and modernization efforts from legacy platforms to cloud-native environments.
• Support both relational and NoSQL database systems in a modern cloud environment.
• Ensure data quality through governance, auditing, and appropriate usage controls.
• Automate database operations and maintenance using Python, Bash, or Go scripting.
• Mentor and coach junior DBAs and technical team members on database best practices.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent formal training in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field.
• At least five years of work experience in an information technology or engineering environment.
• Extensive experience in database administration, design, implementation, and performance optimization for enterprise environments.
• Deep expertise with PostgreSQL features, including vacuum tuning and performance optimization; experience with Google AlloyDB is preferred.
• Proficiency in provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Google Cloud services like Cloud SQL, Spanner, and AlloyDB.
• Experience with Python, Bash, or Go for automation, scripting, and custom tooling.
• Proficiency with schema migration tools (Flyway, Liquibase) and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions).
• Ability to lead technical teams, mentor junior DBAs, and perform complex root cause analysis for production issues.
