Senior Database Administrator, Postgres/MongoDB

What you'll do

• Administer and optimize high-volume MongoDB and PostgreSQL systems in highly available environments.
• Design and own Terraform modules for GCP databases including Cloud SQL, Memorystore, AlloyDB, Spanner, and BigQuery.
• Manage large transactional replication with low-latency delivery while tuning performance and costs for BigQuery.
• Implement database changes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) through Terraform and GitHub pull requests.
• Establish backup/restore procedures, point-in-time recovery, high availability testing, and disaster recovery runbooks.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on schema reviews, query optimization, and BigQuery governance.
• Perform security audits, handle data change requests, and participate in on-call rotations for incident response.
• Execute scheduled maintenance including patching, large data scripts, and very large database index work.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience is required.
• 8+ years of prior work experience is required.
• Experience administering and optimizing MongoDB and PostgreSQL Server environments, including transactional replication, is required.
• Experience with GCP CloudSQL PostgreSQL and other cloud-based database technologies like Azure SQL or AWS RDS (preferred).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and version control systems like GitHub is required.
• Expertise in Memorystore for Redis, AlloyDB, Spanner, and BigQuery is preferred.
• Knowledge of programming and scripting for automation, DevOps methodologies, and CI/CD pipelines is required.
• Ability to provide on-call and off-hours technical support as required.
