JOB TITLE: Data Engineer - Cloud & Analytics, Officer - State Street Investment Management The Officer-level Senior Data Engineer joins the Data, Analytics & AI Services team to design and build modern cloud-based data engineering solutions. This role supports the Client Coverage Group and Chief Business Office by developing end-to-end data pipelines for analytics, reporting, and AI use cases. Key responsibilities include building scalable ingestion, transformation, and validation frameworks while ensuring production stability and data quality. The candidate will utilize AWS, Redshift, Databricks, Snowflake, Python, SQL, and Shell scripting to manage structured and unstructured data workflows. Technical requirements include experience with S3, IAM, Apache Airflow, and YAML, alongside the use of AI code generation tools like GitHub Copilot. The role solves complex technical problems involving system-to-system integrations and data warehousing within a financial services context.

What you'll do

  • Design and develop end-to-end data pipelines using AWS, Redshift, Databricks, and Snowflake.
  • Implement secure system integrations using APIs and event-based patterns.
  • Build robust data ingestion, transformation, and validation frameworks with Python, SQL, and Shell scripting.
  • Optimize data pipelines for performance, reliability, and high-quality data output.
  • Support production stability and conduct root-cause analysis for incident resolution.

What we're looking for

  • 6-10 years of IT experience with a focus on Data Engineering.
  • Hands-on experience building data pipelines on cloud platforms for at least 4 years.
  • Proficient in designing and developing AWS-based data pipelines using S3, Redshift, EC2, IAM, Apache Airflow, YAML, and Shell Scripting.
  • Strong Python and SQL skills for data engineering analysis, validation, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with unstructured data (e.g., sales notes, filings, news) and understanding of Data Warehousing concepts.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
