TL;DR · Data Center Engineering Post Silicon Power and Performance Engineer

As a Data Center Engineering - Post Silicon Power and Performance Engineer, you will join the CPU Engineering team to characterize, debug, and optimize the performance and power consumption of complex SoCs and systems. You will develop validation and benchmarking plans, recommend tuning optimizations, and provide feedback for next-generation server CPUs based on real silicon analysis. Your daily work involves executing end-to-end analysis plans, collaborating with design, firmware, and software teams to ensure readiness for first silicon arrival, and driving technical innovations in power management methodologies. You will utilize C/C++, Python scripts, and modern lab equipment like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers. The role focuses on solving performance challenges for critical Data Center workloads, including CPU, memory, and IO bound tasks, while ensuring high efficiency across ARM v8 and v9 architectures and complex system interconnects.

What you'll do

  • Characterize data center workloads on systems to provide inputs for pre-silicon modeling and projections.
  • Define and execute end-to-end performance and power analysis plans for complex server CPUs and systems.
  • Debug hardware issues identified during pre-silicon, bring-up, validation, and production phases of SoC programs.
  • Develop optimization strategies to achieve world-class CPU workload performance.
  • Provide feedback on architecture and product definitions for next-generation server CPUs based on real silicon analysis.
  • Drive technical innovations in power validation by developing new tools, scripts, and procedural methodologies.
  • Coordinate with design, firmware, and software teams to ensure system readiness before first silicon arrival.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in Hardware, Software, Electrical, or Systems Engineering with a Bachelor's degree.
  • 1+ year of experience in Hardware, Software, Electrical, or Systems Engineering with a Master's degree.
  • 5 to 10+ years of practical experience in post silicon performance and power analysis of SoCs.
  • Strong programming and scripting skills in C/C++ and Python.
  • Knowledge of ARM v8 and v9 specifications and related SoC architectures like SMMU, GIC, and Coresight-PMU.
