TL;DR · Cyber Systems Engineer

Cyber Systems Engineer (Level 3 or 4) AHT works within an integrated product team to architect and implement Risk Management Framework requirements for satellite systems, communication links, and ground command and control systems. The role involves designing secure systems across ground, communication, and space segments while managing security engineering requirements for program protection. Key responsibilities include performing attack surface analysis, preparing Systems Security Plan documentation, and implementing COTS security products like firewalls and SIEM tools. The position requires expertise in DISA STIG implementation, ACAS or Tenable NESSUS vulnerability scanning, and RMF processes. Technical tasks involve hardening space vehicle embedded processors, managing Windows and Red Hat systems, and performing static code analysis in an Agile environment. This role addresses critical national security space missions by ensuring cyber resilience and survivability for complex aerospace infrastructure.

What you'll do

  • Architect and implement Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements for satellite systems, communication links, and ground control systems.
  • Decompose system-level security controls into technical performance requirements across various hardware and software segments.
  • Perform Attack Surface Analysis (ASA) and prepare Systems Security Plan (SSP) documentation including risk assessments and traceability matrices.
  • Implement and maintain COTS security products such as firewalls, antivirus, and multi-factor authentication for terrestrial systems.
  • Support the hardening of space vehicle embedded processors and flight software using secure coding best practices.
  • Execute assessment procedures to verify compliance with DoD, Intelligence Community, and Special Access Program security controls.
  • Perform vulnerability scanning, remediation, and patch management on Windows and Red Hat operating systems in cloud or virtualized environments.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for continuous monitoring and system maintenance activities.

What we're looking for

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must have an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI at time of application.
  • Minimum 2 years of Cyber/SSE experience, preferably within the defense aerospace industry.
  • Experience implementing the RMF process from system categorization through continuous monitoring.
  • Experience designing systems/networks for platform hardening, such as DISA STIG implementation.
  • Experience scanning and remediating vulnerabilities using tools like ACAS or Tenable NESSUS.
  • Experience with real-time operating systems, secure coding best practices, or other mission-critical systems is required.
  • BS degree in engineering (Electrical or Software preferred) with 5 years of experience for Level 3, or 8 years for Level 4; additional 4 years of experience can substitute for a degree.
  • MS degree in Electrical, Systems, or Aerospace Engineering (preferred).
  • Current CISSP-ISSEP or CISSP-ISSAP (preferred).
  • 7 years of IA/cybersecurity experience, with at least 3 within the SAP community (preferred).
  • Experience hardening Docker containers (preferred).
