The Cyber / Principal Cyber Systems Engineer joins a cross-functional Northern Virginia Engineering Discipline Team to provide technical and administrative support for mission-critical infrastructure. The role involves analyzing networks to drive efficiencies, integrating new systems, and maintaining security standards through STIG configurations while managing break-fix events and creating documentation like SOPs and VISIO diagrams. Candidates must possess expertise in Linux environments, IPv4 network design, subnetting, and protocols such as SNMP, SSH, and syslog. The ideal candidate functions as both a Network Architect and System Administrator to support multi-domain systems in a rapidly changing global security environment. Preferred technical skills include experience with FreeIPA, Puppet, Splunk, Bitwarden, NAGIOS, CLAM-AV, DHCP, DNS, LDAP, Intermapper, WhatsupGold, and VM configuration. The position requires an active TS/SCI with Polygraph for high-security mission support.
Provide onsite engineering and administrative support for system engineers while maintaining security standards.
Develop, implement, and support solutions for mission-critical and essential infrastructure.
Analyze existing networks and provide proactive recommendations to improve efficiency and drive change.
Integrate new and existing network systems into the current infrastructure.
Maintain, evaluate, test, and apply STIG configurations for various network devices.
Respond to security findings and resolve break-fix events across the infrastructure.
Create and maintain technical documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures and VISIO diagrams.
What we're looking for
Active TS/SCI with Polygraph is required prior to start.
U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
For Cyber Systems Engineer: Bachelor's degree with 2 years experience, Master's with 0 years, PhD with 0 years, or 7 years of experience without a degree.
For Principal Cyber Systems Engineer: Bachelor's degree with 5 years experience, Master's with 3 years, PhD with 1 year, or 9 years of experience without a degree.
Experience designing and maintaining LAN and WAN based networks is required for the Principal level.
Proficiency in Linux environments and the ability to act as a systems administrator are required.
Knowledge of IPv4 network design, including IP subnetting and protocols, is required.
Ability to perform functions of both a Network Architect and System Administrator.
