TL;DR · Customer Engineering Lead, Firmware / BIOS / UEFI

Customer Engineering Lead - Firmware / BIOS / UEFI serves as a senior technical authority within the Software Applications Engineering team to drive success for ARM-based, hyperscale class server platforms. This role involves managing complex escalations regarding boot blockers, firmware regressions, and RAS faults while serving as the primary technical interface for hyperscalers and partners. The individual will perform deep dive forensics on crash dumps and silicon traces, lead multi-team war rooms, and conduct code reviews for UEFI drivers and BMC services. Key technologies include UEFI/EDK2, ARM Trusted Firmware, Redfish, IPMI, PLDM, MCTP, and PCIe/CXL protocols. The role focuses on solving critical system-level issues involving silicon initialization, platform reliability, and secure firmware lifecycles to ensure stable operation across the datacenter roadmap while mentoring internal teams and shaping long-term product strategy for high-scale infrastructure.

What you'll do

  • Act as the final technical escalation point for critical boot blockers, firmware regressions, and hardware interface failures.
  • Perform deep-dive forensics on crash dumps, firmware traces, silicon buffers, and telemetry logs to resolve complex system issues.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface for hyperscalers and OEMs regarding UEFI/BIOS, BMC integration, and secure firmware lifecycles.
  • Lead code and design reviews for UEFI drivers, ARM Trusted Firmware components, and Redfish/PLDM management services.
  • Manage the integration of host firmware, BMC manageability protocols, and PCIe/CXL initialization across multi-team projects.
  • Develop technical collateral including bring-up guides, RAS playbooks, and architecture recommendations for customers.
  • Identify systemic gaps in fault detection and recovery to drive architectural improvements and process enhancements.
  • Advocate for industry standards and secure update frameworks across the broader server ecosystem.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field with 6+ years of experience, OR Master's with 5+ years, OR PhD with 4+ years.
  • 3+ years of experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
  • 3+ years of experience with debugging techniques.
  • Experience in firmware, bootloader, or system software development for ARM or datacenter server platforms (preferred).
  • Expert level understanding of UEFI/EDK2, secure/Measured Boot, and host-BMC coordination (preferred).
  • Expertise in BMC ecosystems including OpenBMC, Redfish, IPMI, KCS, PLDM, and MCTP (preferred).
  • Experience with PCIe/CXL initialization, DDR bring up, and advanced debugging using JTAG/Trace32 (preferred).
  • Proven experience leading customer-facing escalations at hyperscale and conducting architecture reviews (preferred).
