The Critical Facilities Operations Center Operator, Data Center Operations role is part of the Infrastructure Services team within the Information Systems and Technology organization. In this position, you will manage and monitor critical infrastructure systems including Electrical Power Monitoring Systems, Building Management Systems, Fire/Life Safety, Generator Systems, and Facility Networks. You will be responsible for responding to alarms, leading incident management processes, performing daily rounds, and maintaining accurate logs and reports. The role involves coordinating with vendors, implementing change requests, and managing work orders within a maintenance management system. Required expertise includes experience with EPMS, BMS, or FLS controls systems, as well as familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). You will operate in a mission-critical data center environment to ensure the continuous performance of essential infrastructure supporting large-scale computing, storage, and networking services.
Monitor and manipulate critical systems including electrical power, building management, fire safety, and facility networks.
Identify critical events and lead the incident management process using Emergency Operating Procedures.
Perform daily rounds and readings to verify the health of building monitoring systems.
Manage all FOC communications and disseminate information to stakeholders during normal operations and incidents.
Implement change requests for planned work and manage break/fix tickets in the maintenance system.
Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure accurate check-in, performance evaluation, and issue escalation.
Maintain accurate logs and reports to ensure compliance with applicable safety and operational standards.
What we're looking for
2+ years of experience with EPMS, BMS, and/or FLS control systems.
1–3 years of experience in critical facilities, data centers, industrial plants, mission-critical operations centers, or military technical ratings.
Experience with maintenance management tools such as CMMS or similar.
Experience or exposure to mechanical, electrical, and fire life safety systems.
Physical ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 75 lbs.
Ability to work in varying temperatures (60°F to 110°F) and follow OSHA work-rest cycles.
Flexibility to work 12-hour shifts including graveyard, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
4+ years of related experience in a mission critical environment (preferred); ability to analyze complex failure scenarios and interpret diagrams (preferred).
