The Controls SCADA Engineer, Rocket Motor Systems joins the Rocket Motor Systems team to design and commission automated equipment for high-rate production of Solid Rocket Motors. As a Controls Engineer III, you will own the SCADA layer, managing PLC integration through Ignition applications and plant floor visibility. Your daily responsibilities include writing and debugging Siemens PLC code in Ladder and Structured Text, installing and tuning servo drives and VFDs, and building SCADA applications featuring Perspective screens and historian configurations. You will integrate FactoryOS software into production lines while ensuring regulatory compliance and safety buyoffs. Key technical skills include proficiency with ProfiNET, ProfiSAFE, and Ethernet IP protocols, along with experience in electrical component selection, pneumatic design, and performing Risk Assessments for industrial automation systems.

What you'll do

Design, commission, and upgrade control systems for Solid Rocket Motor production equipment.
Write and debug structured, documented, and reusable Siemens PLC code for high-volume manufacturing.
Build and maintain SCADA applications in Ignition, including tag architecture, Perspective screens, and historian configuration.
Integrate internal and external FactoryOS software into automation equipment and production lines.
Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for automation failures to ensure long-term reliability.
Install, configure, and tune servo drives and VFDs.
Perform risk assessments and controls safety designs following internal standards and regulatory compliance.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
2+ years of experience in controls and automation in a production environment.
Proficient in Siemens PLC programming using Ladder and Structured Text.
Proficient in servo drive and VFD configuration, PID tuning, STO/SS, etc.
Strong knowledge of ethernet based communication protocols including ProfiNET, ProfiSAFE, and Ethernet IP.
Proficient with electrical component selection, wire sizing, circuit protection, and heat management in control cabinets.
Experience developing SCADA applications in Ignition including Perspective, tag architecture, and historian.
Experience with performing Risk Assessments, Controls Safety Design, pneumatic concepts, and NFPA70e electrical safety practices.
Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities.
4+ years of experience in controls and automation in a production environment (preferred).
Experience with control panel layout, electrical component selection, and cable routing (preferred).
Electrical troubleshooting up to 600VAC (preferred).
