The Compiler Tools Engineer joins the Compiler Toolchain Software team to develop the LLVM compilation suite for the Hexagon DSP. This role focuses on enabling high-performance machine learning, signal processing, and multimedia workloads on the Snapdragon platform. You will build LLVM and MLIR-based compiler components, improve ML compiler lowering and optimization pipelines, and debug correctness issues across MLIR, LLVM IR, and assembly. Key responsibilities include using profiling and benchmark data to drive performance and code size improvements while collaborating with hardware engineers to optimize silicon usage. Required skills include hands-on experience with LLVM, MLIR, or GCC, along with strong C/C++ programming. You will work on the entire compilation stack, including intermediate representations, code generation, and programmer usability for wireless communication and image processing applications.
Develop LLVM and MLIR-based compiler components for the Hexagon DSP.
Improve ML compiler lowering and optimization pipelines for efficient hardware execution.
Use profiling and benchmark data to drive performance and code size improvements.
Debug correctness and code generation issues across MLIR, LLVM IR, and assembly.
Analyze software requirements to determine feasible designs within hardware constraints.

What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Software or Systems Engineering experience.
Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 1+ year of Software or Systems Engineering experience.
PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
1+ year of any combination of academic and/or work experience with compiler or tools.
5 years or more of compiler engineering experience in industry or academia.
Hands-on experience with LLVM, MLIR, GCC, or another production compiler framework.
Strong programming skills in modern C/C++ and experience working in large software codebases.
Professional experience developing production-quality compiler infrastructure using LLVM and/or MLIR (preferred).
