As a Commercial HVAC/R & Mechanical Systems Technician, you will join the Maritime Manufacturing Technology team to build and maintain critical systems for maritime vessels. You will be responsible for assembling, installing, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems, including chilled water and DX systems. Your daily work involves fabricating and brazing refrigerant piping, performing recovery and charging per EPA standards, and conducting functional tests to meet government inspections. Additionally, you will maintain production facility infrastructure such as fume extraction and climate-controlled zones. The role requires expertise in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, reading P&IDs, and using diagnostic tools. Key technical requirements include an EPA Section 608 certification, proficiency in brazing copper alloys, and familiarity with BAS/PLC controls to ensure high-reliability performance for maritime defense hardware in demanding environments.

What you'll do

Assemble and install HVAC/R equipment for maritime vessels according to engineering drawings and work instructions.
Fabricate, braze, and install refrigerant piping using copper and copper alloys.
Manage refrigerant systems by recovering, recycling, evacuating, and charging them per EPA standards.
Conduct functional testing, tuning, and preparation of systems for company and government inspections.
Maintain production facility HVAC systems including rooftop units, exhaust fans, and specialized ventilation systems.
Monitor and maintain controlled-environment areas to ensure specific temperature and humidity levels for assembly.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system faults to minimize production downtime.

What we're looking for

High school diploma, GED, or trade school certificate.
4+ years of HVAC service experience in industrial, marine, shipyard, or heavy commercial environments.
EPA Section 608 certification (Universal preferred).
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical HVAC systems using diagnostic tools.
Experience brazing and soldering refrigerant piping with copper and copper alloys.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and OEM specifications.
Must be a U.S. Person and eligible to obtain/maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
