As a Business Intelligence Analyst III, you will serve as an advanced analytical professional within the Sutter Health System Office-Valley team. This role functions as an independent contributor who bridges the gap between raw data and actionable strategy by solving complex business questions and leading project teams to drive operational or financial decisions. You will be responsible for gathering requirements, building rapid proofs-of-concept, creating predictive models, and delivering data-driven recommendations to leadership. Your daily work involves advanced statistical analysis, forecasting, and developing dashboards to address novel problems where no clear procedure exists. To succeed, you must possess advanced SQL skills for complex data extraction, proficiency in Tableau or Power BI, and expertise in Excel modeling. You will utilize these tools to provide actionable insights within the healthcare domain while mentoring junior team members.
Solve complex business questions by applying advanced analytical skills to novel problems without established procedures.
Build predictive models and deliver actionable insights to drive operational or financial decisions.
Lead the gathering of both business and technical requirements for data projects.
Develop rapid proofs-of-concept (POCs) to test new analytical solutions.
Create advanced dashboards and visualizations using tools like Tableau or Power BI.
Write advanced SQL queries to extract and explore complex datasets independently.
Present data-driven recommendations and stories to influence non-technical stakeholders.
Mentor junior team members on technical and analytical tasks.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Healthcare Administration, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field (equivalent experience accepted).
5 years of recent relevant experience in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or a related analytical role.
Proven experience independently solving complex business problems using advanced analytics and predictive modeling.
Advanced proficiency in data visualization platforms such as Tableau or Power BI.
Advanced SQL skills for independent data extraction and exploration including SELECT, JOIN, GROUP BY, and CTEs.
Experience leading small-to-medium analytical projects and mentoring junior team members.
Excellent data storytelling and presentation skills to influence non-technical stakeholders.
Epic Cogito Certification and one tool-specific certification (Power BI or Tableau) required within one year of start date.
