Building Engineer / Senior Building Engineer

What you'll do

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot major building systems including HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, and fire/life-safety systems.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment according to established schedules and procedures.
• Monitor building operating conditions and respond immediately to equipment alarms or system abnormalities.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs, testing, commissioning, and construction activities.
• Respond to emergency situations such as power outages, water leaks, and other critical facility failures.
• Manage work orders and maintain accurate logs of equipment readings and maintenance records.
• Provide professional customer service by responding to internal requests and communicating repair timelines to occupants.
• Oversee project management for building upgrades, including creating training guides and monitoring contractor compliance.

What we're looking for

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Typically 5-6 years of related experience for Building Engineer and 6+ years for Sr. Building Engineer.
• Experience working in large commercial, high-rise, mission-critical, institutional, or industrial facilities.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and schematics.
• Basic to intermediate proficiency in MS Office Suite (email, Word, and Excel).
• Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and Building Automation Systems.
• Experience with CMMS/work-order management systems and emergency power systems like generators and UPS.
• EPA 608 certification (preferred); trade certifications (preferred).
