TL;DR · Baseband Hardware/Systems Engineer

The Baseband Hardware/Systems Engineer joins the Central Baseband Hardware Systems team to develop baseband and embedded system reference designs. This role focuses on the co-design of silicon, package, and PCB interconnect technologies for application processors and power management ASICs. You will define system requirements, develop platform architectures for mobile, AR/VR, wearable, and compute products, and implement high-speed digital hardware including schematic capture, BOM development, and layout support. Key responsibilities involve performing signal integrity and power integrity analysis for memory subsystems and power delivery networks while integrating interfaces like PCIe, USB, Ethernet, SPI, and I2C. You will utilize tools such as Xpedition or Allegro to solve complex hardware challenges. The role addresses the technical challenge of integrating high-performance SOCs with high-speed memories, displays, and 5G RF transceiver cards into diverse consumer product form factors.

What you'll do

  • Define system and reference design requirements for mobile, AR/VR, wearable, and compute products.
  • Develop and document platform architectures based on Qualcomm SoCs, ASICs, and PMICs.
  • Design high-speed digital and baseband hardware including schematic capture, BOM development, and PCB layout support.
  • Perform signal integrity and power integrity analysis, simulation, and optimization for memory subsystems and power networks.
  • Integrate high-speed interfaces such as PCIe, USB, Ethernet, SPI, and I2C into product designs.
  • Manage technical engagement with ODM partners to oversee reference design development and production.
  • Conduct design reviews and establish guidelines based on DFT, DFM, and manufacturing best practices.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in board-level hardware design for CPU-based platforms and consumer electronics.
  • Experience in digital/baseband and analog circuit design.
  • Proficiency with signal integrity and power integrity tools and methodologies.
  • Proficiency with PCB schematic capture and layout tools such as Xpedition or Allegro.
  • Experience with ARM or x86 platforms operating above 1 GHz using LPDDRx memory interfaces.
  • Experience with high-speed hardware designs, including PCIe, USB, Ethernet, SPI, and I2C.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
