Autonomous Vehicle Test Engineer

What you'll do

• Translate product and system objectives into actionable test plans, procedures, and schedules.
• Execute closed-course vehicle testing including feature validation, regression, and data collection at the proving ground.
• Perform technical triage to identify and isolate hardware and software issues within the autonomous vehicle stack.
• Create detailed reports for engineering teams that distinguish objective evidence from anecdotal observations.
• Manage vehicle readiness by performing pre-drive checks, sensor cleaning, and configuration updates.
• Maintain traceability of test results, issues, and requirements in tools like Jira and Confluence.
• Identify opportunities to improve testing methods, data workflows, and infrastructure efficiency.
• Ensure all testing activities strictly adhere to safety protocols and operational limits.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, automotive, systems, computer, robotics, aerospace engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in autonomous vehicles, automotive engineering, robotics, aerospace, vehicle testing, or systems integration.
• Experience planning and executing complex electro-mechanical system tests in laboratory, proving-ground, or field environments.
• Experience troubleshooting software-enabled hardware systems using diagnostic information, logs, measurements, and structured problem-solving methods.
• Ability to read and apply test procedures, requirements, acceptance criteria, operating instructions, and safety controls.
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of ambiguous technical problems and collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and cross-functional coordination.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet GM driver-training and site-access requirements for vehicle testing.
