As an Automotive - Platform Software Sr. Staff Engineer, you will join the automotive team to develop next-generation solutions for infotainment, telematics, and autonomous driving systems. You will be responsible for understanding software requirements and their relationship to hardware blocks while leading the development, debugging, and customer interaction for various platform software drivers and modules. Your daily work involves designing, coding, and testing complex embedded software sub-systems, performing high-level code reviews, and creating technical documentation. The role requires proficiency in C, C++, Java, or Python, with a focus on ARM architecture, Linux or QNX kernels, bootloaders, and device drivers like PCIe and Ethernet. You will solve critical challenges involving SoC low-power management, multimedia systems, and hardware-software safety mechanisms to ensure high-quality performance for global automotive customers within the connected car ecosystem.
Design, develop, and validate critical embedded software, applications, and specialized utility programs for automotive platforms.
Analyze user needs and technical requirements to design sophisticated software for optimal operational efficiency.
Implement software sub-systems for complex, large-scale products and systems.
Lead the coding, testing, and debugging efforts to ensure projects meet specifications and schedules.
Perform complex code reviews and regression tests while triaging and fixing software issues.
Write detailed technical documentation for complex software projects and review documentation produced by junior engineers.
Manage customer interactions regarding platform software drivers and modules.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field with 6+ years of experience, OR Master's with 5+ years, OR PhD with 4+ years.
3+ years of work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
Master's degree or PhD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
8+ years of software experience in embedded software development for ARM based systems (preferred).
Experience in at least three areas including Linux/QNX kernels, Bootloaders, SoC architecture, and device drivers (preferred).
Knowledge of hardware/software interaction for standard blocks, CPU, accelerators, and HW/SW safety mechanisms like BIST or failure mode analysis (preferred).
Exposure to automotive software development processes and standards such as ASPICE, ISO26262, and ISO21434 (preferred).
