Associate Director, Data Scientist

What you'll do

• Manage contractors, technical delivery partners, and AI workstreams across various applied AI initiatives.
• Provide hands-on technical direction for AI prototypes, model development, data pipelines, and production systems.
• Review technical designs, architecture decisions, code quality, and implementation tradeoffs to ensure production readiness.
• Design and guide AI solution architectures including RAG systems, agentic workflows, and prompt engineering patterns.
• Develop reusable AI frameworks, tools, and platforms to accelerate delivery across research and enterprise functions.
• Implement LLM evaluation, hallucination risk management, and monitoring using tools like Langfuse.
• Ensure all AI solutions comply with governance, privacy, security, and responsible AI standards.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear product strategies for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What we're looking for

• A PhD in a related field with 4+ years of experience, an MS with 8+ years, or a BS with 10+ years is required.
• Demonstrated expertise in AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, or Generative AI is required.
• Experience guiding technical contributors, contractors, and cross-functional teams including technical direction and quality review is required.
• Hands-on experience building, evaluating, and deploying AI or machine learning solutions in research or enterprise environments is required.
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience with libraries like PyTorch or TensorFlow are required.
• Experience developing Generative AI applications using tools such as LangChain, LangGraph, Langfuse, AWS, or Azure is required.
• Experience designing RAG systems, agentic workflows, and evaluation frameworks for Large Language Models is required.
• Experience applying AI in life sciences, drug development, or healthcare is preferred.
