JOB TITLE: (USA) Director, Data Science
The Director, Data Science leads the strategy, development, and delivery of next-generation Price Recommendation solutions. This leader manages a high-performing team of Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers to build AI and ML products that improve pricing decisions and business performance. Key responsibilities include defining the multi-year roadmap, mentoring staff, and partnering with Product, Engineering, and Merchandising teams to translate complex technical concepts into business outcomes. The role requires expertise in demand forecasting, price elasticity modeling, causal inference, recommendation systems, reinforcement learning, and optimization. Candidates must utilize tools and languages including Python, Spark, Scala, R, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and Torch. This position solves the technical challenge of creating scalable, explainable, and measurable pricing models to enhance customer value within a large-scale retail environment.
Define and own the multi-year vision and roadmap for Price Recommendation capabilities.
Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers.
Partner with Product Management to define priorities, investment decisions, and roadmap execution.
Translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes for senior leadership and stakeholders.
Lead end-to-end delivery of ML products from initial ideation through production deployment.
Provide technical direction on methodologies including demand forecasting, price elasticity, and causal inference.
Establish operational excellence through strong governance, engineering best practices, and success metrics.
Promote best practices in model development, validation, monitoring, and responsible AI.
What we're looking for
Must have a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 6 years of experience in an analytics related field.
Must have a Master's degree in a related field and 4 years of experience in an analytics related field.
Must have 8 years of experience in an analytics or related field.
Must have experience leading, mentoring, and growing a team of Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers.
Must have experience in demand forecasting, price elasticity modeling, causal inference, and recommendation systems.
Must have experience in optimization, experimentation, and A/B testing.
Must have experience in end-to-end delivery of ML products from ideation through production deployment.
Must have experience in stakeholder management and translating complex technical concepts for senior leadership.
Must have experience using open source frameworks like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or Torch (preferred).
Must have a PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Econometrics (preferred).
Must have successful completion of one or more assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R (preferred).
Must have supervisory experience (preferred).
Must have knowledge of implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards (preferred).
