TL;DR · Analog Design Lead, Power Management

The Analog Design Lead - Power Management joins the Custom Silicon Management Group to drive technical engagements between internal teams and silicon suppliers. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality, production-ready silicon by defining, developing, and productizing next-generation mobile power solutions. The individual will lead efforts to develop, integrate, characterize, and test devices including power regulators, chargers, backlight drivers, and boost converters. Key responsibilities include managing vendor relationships, overseeing circuit designs, and ensuring long-term reliability through rigorous validation. Required expertise includes experience with buck, boost, buck-boost, charge pumps, and LDO topologies, as well as control architectures like current mode and voltage mode. Technical skills involve using tools such as MATLAB, Simplis, PSIM, or Spectre to model DC/DC converters while designing complex circuit blocks including bandgap references, op amps, and switching power stages for mobile products.

What you'll do

  • Establish silicon requirements in coordination with Systems and Platform teams.
  • Lead the development, integration, characterization, and testing of power regulators, chargers, and backlight drivers.
  • Deliver functional and production-ready silicon that meets system requirements on schedule.
  • Manage external vendors to implement innovative design practices and manage new process technologies.
  • Verify, validate, and test designs for long-term reliability.
  • Support multi-functional engineering teams during system validation and mass production approval.

What we're looking for

  • Experience with power topologies such as buck, boost, buck-boost, charge pumps, and LDOs.
  • MS degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience (preferred).
  • Understanding of control architectures for DC/DC converters, LED drivers, battery management circuits, and temperature sensors (preferred).
  • Knowledge of semiconductor device physics, safe-operating area, and power transistor modeling using tools like MATLAB, Simplis, PSIM, or Spectre (preferred).
  • Understanding of Analog IC circuit design including bandgap references, op amps, OTAs, and switching power stages (preferred).
  • Experience with mixed signal ICs integrating power management circuits, ADCs, DACs, and digital state machines (preferred).
  • Experience taking projects from concept through fabrication monitoring, characterization, and failure analysis (preferred).
