TL;DR · Analog Design Lead, Power Management

The Analog Design Lead - Power Management joins the Custom Silicon Management Group to drive technical engagements with silicon and IP suppliers for mobile products. This role involves collaborating with multi-functional teams and external vendors to define, develop, and productize next-generation power solutions. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality silicon by managing architectural designs, topologies, and requirements for components like power regulators, chargers, backlight drivers, and boost converters. The work requires expertise in buck, boost, buck-boost, charge pumps, and LDOs, alongside knowledge of control architectures such as current mode, voltage mode, and hysteretic mode. Key technical skills include semiconductor device physics, DC/DC converter modeling using MATLAB, Simplis, PSIM, or Spectre, and circuit design for components like bandgap references, op amps, and switching power stages to solve complex mobile power management challenges.

What you'll do

  • Establish silicon requirements by collaborating with Systems and Platform teams.
  • Lead the development, integration, characterization, and testing of power regulators, chargers, and backlight drivers.
  • Deliver functional and production-ready silicon that meets system requirements on schedule.
  • Manage external vendors to implement innovative design practices and manage new process technologies.
  • Ensure all designs are accurately verified, validated, and tested for long-term reliability.
  • Support multi-functional engineering teams during system validation and mass production approval.

What we're looking for

  • Experience with power topologies such as buck, boost, buck-boost, charge pumps, and LDOs.
  • MS degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience (preferred).
  • Understanding of control architectures for DC/DC converters, LED drivers, battery management circuits, and temperature sensors (preferred).
  • Knowledge of semiconductor device physics, safe-operating area, and power transistor modeling using tools like MATLAB, Simplis, PSIM, or Spectre (preferred).
  • Understanding of Analog IC circuit design including bandgap references, op amps, switching power stages, and related components (preferred).
  • Experience with mixed signal ICs integrating power management circuits, ADCs, DACs, and digital state machines (preferred).
  • Experience taking projects from concept through production, including layout supervision, characterization, and failure analysis (preferred).
