As the Air Vehicle Lead on the Air Dominance and Strike team, you will lead the mechanical development of new autonomous missile systems from initial concept through fabrication and flight test. You will be responsible for shaping requirements, driving system architecture to meet performance goals, and managing a multidisciplinary engineering team. Your daily work involves hands-on aircraft design, analyzing failures, building prototypes, and overseeing manufacturing processes for composites and metallics. The role requires expertise in aerospace systems including propulsion, aerodynamics, stability and control, and electrical integration. You will utilize CAD tools, aircraft sizing software, and potentially NX/Teamcenter to manage complex designs. This position focuses on the technical challenge of developing high-speed, air-launched expendable systems, including those with liquid or solid rocket motors and low observable design principles for advanced defense applications.

What you'll do

Lead the mechanical development of autonomous air vehicles from conceptual design through flight testing.
Derive and shape internal and external requirements for new missile systems.
Drive system architecture and design solutions to meet performance, rate, and cost goals.
Perform hands-on engineering for aircraft, airframe, and subsystem detailed design and fabrication.
Lead design reviews, present to customers, and manage vendor relationships.
Build prototypes, analyze failures, and transition successful projects into production.
Provide technical leadership and oversight for a team of 10 to 25 multidisciplinary engineers.

What we're looking for

Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
8+ years of professional experience in the aerospace industry.
Must possess and be able to maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Experience developing air vehicle conceptual designs and transitioning them into flying and deployable systems.
Working knowledge of MIL standards and industry best practices.
Proficiency in managing complex vehicle development designs in CAD and using aircraft sizing tools.
Experience with prototype and production manufacturing methods for both composites and metallics.
Demonstrated leadership skills to manage project scope, schedules, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
