The Advanced Staff Thermal Systems Engineer joins the engineering group to foster innovation by developing system-level architectures and leading technical development projects. This role serves as the primary technical point of contact for clients while managing multi-disciplinary teams across thermal analysis, mechanical design, reliability, and electronics. Responsibilities include defining program architecture, managing technical risks, and overseeing requirements traceability from decomposition to verification. The engineer will utilize skills in thermal fluid sciences, solid modeling, and stress analysis to solve complex aerospace problems involving environmental control systems, powerplants, and avionics. Key technical competencies include experience with Vapor Cycle Systems, Liquid Cooling Systems, and Air Cycle Systems, alongside familiarity with MIL-STD-810 and DO-160 standards. The role also involves mentoring junior staff and utilizing model-based systems engineering tools to ensure the successful transition of aerospace products from prototype to production.
Develop and manage the program’s system architecture, technical approach, and multi-disciplinary execution plans.
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients and coordinate activities with internal teams and external vendors.
Manage and decompose high-level requirements into lower-level specifications to ensure traceability and verification.
Identify and mitigate technical risks in coordination with Program Management to ensure successful project delivery.
Lead a multi-disciplinary team of subject matter experts across thermal analysis, mechanical design, and systems integration.
Provide technical leadership by mentoring junior staff and contributing to the company's overall engineering strategy.
Research and recommend investments in new technologies, tools, and procedures to improve product quality.
Troubleshoot and diagnose non-performing products through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Systems Engineering, preferably within Thermal Management Systems.
Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) to access export-controlled information.
Working knowledge of aerospace technical disciplines including requirements management, verification and validation, mechanical design, and thermal fluid sciences.
Functional understanding of major aircraft systems such as environmental control, powerplant, electrical, hydraulics, and avionics.
Experience with Vapor Cycle Systems (VCS), Liquid Cooling Systems (LCS), and/or Air Cycle Systems (ACS) including standard components like heat exchangers and pumps.
Familiarity with environmental testing and qualification methods such as MIL-STD-810 and DO-160.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 15+ years of experience, MBSE tools, and requirements management tools are preferred.
