As a WSoC PHY/MAC Validation and Integration Engineer, you will join the hardware team to focus on the integration and optimization of physical layer components in wireless communication systems. You will perform chip-level bring-up, implement and optimize Digital Signal Processing algorithms for signal modulation, demodulation, filtering, and error correction, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure performance and reliability. Your daily work involves designing and automating directed PHY/MAC testing scripts, conducting power-on testing, and troubleshooting integration issues at the chip level. You will utilize Python, FPGA tools, and lab equipment such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes. The role addresses technical challenges in wireless connectivity applications by validating protocols like Bluetooth, Zigbee, and UWB while performing RF parametric testing including EVM, ACPR, Rx sensitivity, and blocker testing on real silicon.

What you'll do

Design, integrate, and validate PHY layer components for wireless communication protocols like Bluetooth, Zigbee, and UWB.
Implement and optimize DSP algorithms for signal modulation, demodulation, filtering, and error correction.
Perform FPGA and chip-level bring-up including power-on testing and debugging of PHY/RF/MAC functionalities.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex integration issues at the chip level to identify root causes.
Develop and automate directed PHY/MAC testing scripts to control RF test equipment and chips.
Validate and characterize wireless algorithms on real silicon in collaboration with hardware designers.
Transition state-of-the-art physical layer wireless communication algorithms from development to production state.
Create test plans, collect data, and analyze results to debug system issues.

What we're looking for

Bachelor of Science degree and at least 10 years of relevant industry experience.
Experience in wireless communications with a focus on PHY layer design and integration (preferred).
Understanding of DSP concepts and experience implementing DSP algorithms in real-time systems (preferred).
Experience with chip-level bring-up and hardware debugging tools and techniques (preferred).
Experience with PHY/RF/MAC verification (preferred).
Experience with RF parametric testing such as EVM, ACPR, Rx sensitivity, and blocker testing (preferred).
Experience with lab equipment including network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and DMMs (preferred).
Proficiency in Python programming (preferred) and knowledge of wireless protocols like Bluetooth, WLAN, or UWB (preferred).
