TL;DR · Vice President, Software Engineering

Vice President, Software Engineering leads the Developer Workbench team to create a unified, AI-enabled, end-to-end software engineering experience across the enterprise. This leader is responsible for transforming disconnected tools into a productized developer experience that improves productivity and accelerates onboarding while ensuring robust governance throughout the software development lifecycle. The role involves defining technical architecture, integrating developer tooling, managing quality systems, and implementing AI-assisted coding capabilities and agentic development workflows. Key responsibilities include overseeing cloud and local development environments, establishing tool governance models, and leading a high-performing organization of engineers and architects. The position requires expertise in CI/CD, cloud-native architecture, platform engineering, and developer experience. This role solves the challenge of fragmented internal tools by building a seamless journey from coding to deployment while ensuring security and scalability across the enterprise's software development infrastructure.

What you'll do

  • Define and execute the technical architecture, operating model, and roadmap for a unified Developer Workbench platform.
  • Integrate developer tools, AI coding capabilities, and deployment pipelines into a seamless end-to-end experience.
  • Lead the adoption of AI-assisted software engineering tools while ensuring security and compliance standards.
  • Establish governance models for tool lifecycle management, versioning, and enterprise-wide standardization.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team of engineers, architects, and platform specialists.
  • Manage tooling costs and provide transparency into the value and productivity impact of engineering tools.
  • Communicate strategy, risks, and outcomes to executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

What we're looking for

  • 15+ years of progressive software engineering experience.
  • 8+ years of experience leading large engineering teams or platform engineering organizations.
  • Proven experience building or scaling developer platforms, internal engineering platforms, DevEx organizations, cloud platforms, DevOps platforms, or engineering productivity functions.
  • Strong understanding of modern software development practices, CI/CD, cloud-native architecture, platform engineering, and secure software delivery.
  • Experience leading complex enterprise technology transformations in a matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior executives and align cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Track record of building high-performing teams and developing engineering leaders.
  • Experience using data, telemetry, and metrics to improve engineering productivity and platform adoption.
  • Experience with AI-assisted software development tools and emerging agentic engineering workflows (preferred).
  • Background in developer experience, platform engineering, SRE, DevOps, cloud engineering, or engineering enablement (preferred).
  • Experience supporting large-scale developer communities in a global enterprise (preferred).
  • Familiarity with engineering productivity measurement, developer satisfaction metrics, and platform adoption frameworks (preferred).
  • Experience managing tooling governance, vendor platforms, and enterprise-wide technology standards (preferred).
