Vehicle Engineer Trainer Level 3/4 - Spacecraft Operations is a technical role within the Spacecraft Operations team providing mission support for satellite programs. The engineer performs on-orbit vehicle sustaining engineering, including system problem resolution, data trending, and performance analysis. Key responsibilities involve leading anomaly review board investigations, conducting risk analyses, updating operational procedures based on in-flight performance, and coordinating maintenance tasks across multiple contractor organizations. This role requires 24/7 on-call support and involves shift work to ensure continuous mission success. Candidates must possess expertise in satellite engineering disciplines such as attitude control, power management, thermal control, propulsion, and command and data handling. Technical skills include proficiency in MS Office tools and potentially MATLAB, Python, SIMULINK, Fortran, Java, or C/C++. The role addresses the critical challenge of maintaining orbital assets through proactive troubleshooting and technical documentation for external customers.
Provide mission operations support for satellite programs including on-orbit vehicle and sustaining engineering.
Resolve system problems and anomalies through investigation, diagnosis, and data trending.
Lead and coordinate systems engineers during anomaly review board investigations.
Perform 24/7 on-call support to resolve critical system issues and anomalies.
Update and develop operational procedures based on lessons learned from in-flight performance.
Coordinate maintenance tasks across multiple contractor organizations and external system partners.
Conduct briefings and demonstrations explaining how to use mission systems for specific objectives.
Perform quantitative risk analysis and provide status reporting to functional and program branches.
What we're looking for
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Must possess an active or current Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related STEM field is preferred (equivalent experience may be considered).
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience for Level 3, or 8 years for Level 4.
Knowledge and experience in satellite operations engineering including attitude control, power management, thermal control, propulsion, and data handling.
Experience with troubleshooting, anomaly resolution, and performing analysis on operational systems.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to create technical documents and deliver persuasive presentations.
Ability to work under high pressure and maintain composure in stressful situations.
