As a User Experience Design Intern, you will join a collaborative team to support user experience projects from initial concept through final implementation. You will create wireframes, mockups, user flows, and prototypes while assisting with research activities such as interviews and usability testing. The role involves participating in design workshops, applying user-centered design methodologies, and contributing to design systems and accessibility efforts. You will work with tools like Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and Sketch, while exploring how AI-powered technologies and generative AI can enhance product experiences. This position focuses on the IBM Systems business unit, where you will address complex problems related to infrastructure, cognitive business, and cloud computing. You will collaborate with product managers and developers to design intelligent systems and conversational interfaces for enterprise software environments.
Create wireframes, mockups, user flows, and prototypes to communicate design ideas.
Conduct user research activities including interviews and usability testing.
Synthesize research findings to inform design decisions.
Integrate AI-powered technologies into product experiences using tools like Claude or Copilot.
Contribute to the development of design systems and accessibility initiatives.
Present design work to stakeholders and incorporate feedback into iterations.
Apply design thinking and user-centered design methodologies to project execution.
What we're looking for
Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred candidates should hold a Bachelor's Degree.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in UX Design, HCI, Product Design, Graphic Design, Psychology, Computer Science, Information Science, or a related field.
Provide a portfolio showcasing coursework, personal projects, internships, hackathons, or other design work.
Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, or similar platforms.
Knowledge of user research methods, usability principles, and accessibility/inclusive design concepts.
Ability to work onsite in Austin 3 days per week.
Must be authorized to work without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
