JOB TITLE: (USA) Senior, Systems and Infrastructure Engineer
The Senior, Systems and Infrastructure Engineer joins the mainframe storage team to support and optimize enterprise mainframe storage infrastructure across complex, high availability parallel sysplex environments. This role involves managing storage pools, virtual tape, and disaster recovery processes for mission critical workloads. Key responsibilities include administering IBM DS8K storage systems, performing system initialization, and providing space allocation recommendations. The engineer will utilize technologies including DFHSM, DFSMS, FDR, MVSRM, and SMPE for installation and maintenance. Required skills include proficiency with JCL, TSO, Rexx, and CLIST scripting, along with experience in IBM GDPS environments, Metro Mirror, and Hyperswap. The position focuses on ensuring data resilience, performance tuning, and operational excellence by managing volume lifecycles and maintaining disaster recovery readiness across multi-site mainframe storage assets.
Manage storage pools by adding, cleaning up, and reclaiming unused volumes.
Administer and maintain IBM DS8K storage systems and large-scale parallel sysplex environments.
Support virtual tape operations using Luminex, DFHSM, FDR, and MVSRM tools.
Maintain IBM GDPS environments including Metro Mirror, Global Mirror, and Hyperswap.
Execute disaster recovery planning, testing, and readiness maintenance for mainframe storage assets.
Install, upgrade, and maintain IBM and third-party mainframe storage products and SMPE.
Perform system initialization, performance tuning, and subsystem optimization for mission-critical workloads.
Utilize JCL, TSO, and Rexx/CLIST scripting to manage storage utilities and database tasks.
What we're looking for
Must have a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 3 years of technology infrastructure engineering experience, or 5 years of experience without a degree.
Must have deep knowledge of DFHSM, DFSMS, FDR, MVSRM, and related storage utilities.
Must have experience managing mainframe storage pools, volume lifecycle operations, and IBM DS8K storage systems.
Must have experience with JCL, TSO, and Rexx and CLIST scripting.
Must have experience with SMPE for installation and maintenance and UNIX System Services.
Must have experience with multi-site and multi-sysplex environments and familiarity with IBM GDPS and replication technologies.
Must have experience with DB2/IMS utilities and knowledge of system initialization and performance tuning.
Must have a Master's degree in a related field and 1 year of experience in configuration management and automation (preferred).
