TL;DR · Technical Leader, SRE/Go development

The Technical Leader, SRE/Go development joins the Kubernetes Site Reliability Engineering team within the Cloud Network Platform Engineering organization. This role focuses on the Node Connectivity team, which manages a globally distributed service connecting millions of Meraki devices to cloud services. You will lead the feasibility assessment, technical planning, and phased migration of workloads from AWS-hosted Kubernetes clusters to an internal, data-center-based Kubernetes platform. Key responsibilities include supporting specialized networking requirements like unique traffic patterns and load-balancing, while maintaining production reliability through incident response and performance improvements. You will design and maintain production-quality Go software for distributed systems using tools like Docker, Kustomize, GitLab CI/CD, and OpenTelemetry. Core competencies include Linux networking, TCP, DNS, TLS, and managing high-throughput, geographically distributed services.

What you'll do

  • Lead the feasibility assessment, technical planning, and phased migration of workloads from AWS to an internal Kubernetes platform.
  • Support the operation and reliability of specialized Kubernetes workloads with non-standard networking and load-balancing requirements.
  • Manage production readiness, incident response, and performance improvements for the application after migration.
  • Solve complex technical issues across applications, Kubernetes, Linux, networking, containers, and infrastructure.
  • Design, implement, and maintain production-quality Go software for distributed, concurrent, and networked systems.
  • Drive operational readiness through SLIs/SLOs, comprehensive testing, on-call support, and root-cause analysis.
  • Coordinate cross-system changes and prioritize support with firmware, cloud infrastructure, security, and product teams.

What we're looking for

  • 8+ years of professional software, site reliability, or infrastructure engineering experience, including technical leadership of substantial production systems.
  • Experience designing, deploying, and operating large distributed services on Kubernetes.
  • 5+ years of programming experience in Go or a similar systems programming language.
  • Experience supporting production services through incident response, performance analysis, Kubernetes reliability practices, observability, automation, and operational readiness.
  • Understanding of Linux and networking concepts, including IPv4/IPv6, TCP, routing, DNS, and TLS.
  • Experience operating Kubernetes across AWS, on-premises, or hybrid environments using AWS/EKS, Docker, Kustomize, or GitLab CI/CD (preferred).
  • Experience with Kubernetes networking, ingress, load balancing, service discovery, and traffic management for high-throughput or geographically distributed services (preferred).
  • Experience with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, mutual TLS, PKI, VPNs, tunneling, or network security (preferred).
