The System Dev Engineer - Power , Amazon Leo joins the satellite power systems team to support the Amazon Leo low Earth orbit satellite network. This role involves developing automation tools to monitor power system health across a constellation of over 3000 satellites and executing operational runbooks to troubleshoot in-flight anomalies. Key responsibilities include telemetry acquisition, processing, and developing metrics to track service uptime while serving as a liaison between Mission Operations and Power System Design Engineering. The successful candidate will use programming languages such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust, along with data analysis tools and software. The work focuses on maintaining operational health, investigating anomalies, and improving automated sequences for complex hardware systems within the satellite and aerospace domain.
Develop automation tools to monitor and assess power system health across the satellite constellation.
Investigate and troubleshoot in-flight anomalies and execute approved operational responses.
Create and enhance scripted operational procedures and automated telemetry acquisition processes.
Develop metrics to track the health and service uptime of individual satellites and the constellation.
Serve as the primary operational liaison between Power System Engineering and flight operations stakeholders.
Improve telemetry monitoring and flight data analysis capabilities through software development.
Document operational instructions and procedures for other power operators.
Formulate responses to new operational scenarios for engineering review and approval.
What we're looking for
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, refugee, or granted asylum.
3+ years of non-internship professional system development experience.
Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
Experience developing operational requirements, performance properties, and dependencies of complex hardware systems.
Experience with data analysis tools and software.
System development experience in solar, battery, electric vehicle, drones, satellite, or rocket (preferred).
Experience in full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, and testing (preferred).
