As a Senior System Development Engineer on the Amazon Leo team, you will develop embedded software for low Earth orbit satellite systems to provide reliable internet connectivity in remote areas. You will be responsible for writing device drivers and system applications, developing software to interact with micro-controllers, and collaborating with hardware teams for board bring-up and integration testing. The role involves designing and developing high-security solutions while managing the full development lifecycle from requirements through implementation and operations. You will utilize modern programming languages including Rust, C, C++, Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, or C# within Linux/Unix environments. Additionally, you will work with CI/CD pipelines, source control management, and testing processes to solve complex challenges in power management, hardware interfaces, command and telemetry, and autonomous control for satellite avionics.
Develop embedded software using Rust, C, C++, or other modern programming languages.
Write device drivers and system applications for various satellite systems.
Create software to interact with micro-controllers.
Support board bring-up and integration testing in coordination with hardware teams.
Design and develop software while maintaining high security standards.
Manage the full software development lifecycle from requirements through implementation, testing, and operations.
Implement features for power management, hardware interfaces, command/telemetry, and autonomous control.
What we're looking for
Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum.
Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
Experience with Linux/Unix systems.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build processes.
Knowledge of engineering practices for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards, code reviews, and source control.
Experience and technical knowledge of security engineering, system and network security, authentication, and application security (preferred).
