Supplier Quality Engineer
The Supplier Quality Engineer joins the team to develop and execute processes ensuring high quality and reliable sub-sea components, including connectors, wet cables, mechanical parts, and batteries for autonomous underwater vehicle missions. This role involves collaborating with design teams and suppliers to manage technical risks, perform design for manufacturing assessments, and oversee production scaling from prototype to high-volume manufacturing. Key responsibilities include conducting supplier audits, managing Root Cause and Corrective Action activities, and ensuring compliance with standards like AS9102, IPC-A-610/620, and MIL-STD-810. The ideal candidate possesses expertise in sub-sea electronics, battery manufacturing, and high voltage systems. Required technical skills include proficiency in FMEA, APQP, PPAP, and GD&T, alongside experience with statistical analysis tools such as MatLab, JMP, or MiniTab to ensure reliable performance across the supply chain for complex maritime hardware.
Develop and execute quality processes for sub-sea components including connectors, wet cables, mechanical parts, and batteries.
Provide technical guidance on design for manufacturing (DFM) and manage risks from prototyping to high-volume production.
Drive supplier quality development through design reviews, process development, testing, and qualification of sub-assemblies.
Manage supplier performance regarding cost, quality, delivery, and fulfillment of strategic program goals.
Execute Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) and Material Review Board (MRB) activities for purchased goods.
Conduct onsite audits of supplier Quality Management Systems to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
Identify and establish a domestic network of material suppliers and contract manufacturers to reduce supply chain risk.
Standardize manufacturing processes and techniques across multiple sites to ensure consistent quality results.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a similar technical field.
2+ years of experience in Supplier Quality, Quality, or Manufacturing Engineering within sub-sea electronics, wet cable, battery manufacturing, or welded frame assembly.
Experience with Electronic Top Level Assembly (TLA), PCBA manufacturing, high voltage systems, and power electronics.
Experience scaling supplier capabilities from prototype stages to high-rate production.
Proficiency in quality standards including AS9102, IPC-A-610/620, IPC-J-STD-001, and MIL-STD-810.
Knowledge of product development methodologies such as FMEA, APQP, PPAP (including MSA), and GD&T.
Experience with data mining and statistical analysis tools like MatLab, JMP, or MiniTab.
Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
