TL;DR · Staff Technical Specialist, GNSS Connectivity

Staff Technical Specialist– GNSS Connectivity serves as a subject matter expert for GNSS hardware and system performance within the connectivity and compute platforms team. This role is responsible for defining end-to-end requirements, designing signal chains, and validating robust, automotive-grade solutions for advanced driver assistance and autonomous driving systems. The daily work involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to manage supplier roadmaps, evaluating chipsets and RF components, and overseeing PCB layout reviews for interference mitigation. Key technical competencies include expertise in GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, and QZSS standards, as well as proficiency with spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and GNSS simulators. The role addresses critical challenges in positioning accuracy, availability, and jamming resilience within complex environments like urban canyons or tunnels, ensuring reliable performance across various vehicle types by integrating sophisticated RF front-end designs and antenna interfaces.

What you'll do

  • Define end-to-end GNSS hardware and system requirements for connectivity and compute modules.
  • Translate vehicle-level requirements into testable engineering specifications for performance, accuracy, and robustness.
  • Evaluate and select GNSS chipsets, modules, and RF components while influencing supplier technology roadmaps.
  • Develop schematics and review PCB layouts for GNSS signal chains and antenna interfaces.
  • Execute conducted RF test plans to characterize sensitivity, dynamic range, and interference susceptibility.
  • Design and develop automated test setups using spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and GNSS simulators.
  • Define vehicle-level performance KPIs and develop test cases for diverse driving scenarios.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and provide technical feedback to resolve issues related to EMC/EMI and signal integrity.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in GNSS and/or RF hardware design, system integration, or validation.
  • Strong understanding of GNSS systems and standards including GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, QZSS, and SBAS.
  • Proven experience translating system-level performance requirements into detailed hardware, design, and test specifications.
  • Hands-on experience with RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, and GNSS simulators.
  • Demonstrated experience with schematic design and PCB layout review for RF/GNSS circuits.
  • Working knowledge of RF theory including link budgets, noise figure, gain, linearity, filters, and matching networks.
  • Experience collaborating with suppliers and purchasing on technical evaluations, design reviews, and roadmap alignment.
  • Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering (preferred).
  • Experience with automotive GNSS applications, including vehicle-level integration and validation (preferred).
  • Familiarity with coexistence between GNSS and other wireless systems and corresponding mitigation techniques (preferred).
  • Knowledge of automotive EMC/EMI and regulatory standards relevant to GNSS and RF systems (preferred).
  • Experience with RF and EM simulation tools like HFSS, CST, or ADS and system modeling in MATLAB (preferred).
  • Background in GNSS antenna design or integration, including active antenna systems and multi-band configurations (preferred).
  • Experience with test automation and data analysis using Python or MATLAB (preferred).
