What you'll do

  • Lead system architecture, design, and requirements strategy for complex neuromodulation products and technology platforms.
  • Translate clinical, user, and business needs into measurable system performance requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Guide integrated system design across electrical hardware, embedded firmware, algorithms, software, and mechanical interfaces.
  • Define system behaviors, performance budgets, and failure modes to mitigate technical risk and optimize safety.
  • Partner with firmware and software teams to shape signal processing and data analysis algorithms.
  • Lead cross-functional design reviews and root-cause analyses to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Execute system characterization tests to define operating ranges, tolerances, and performance budgets.
  • Apply risk management and design control practices to ensure compliance with medical device regulations.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in systems, Biomedical, Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Software Engineering, or a related engineering or scientific field.
  • 8+ years of relevant R&D or product-development experience in systems engineering, system design, or requirements architecture for complex multidisciplinary products.
  • Demonstrated experience defining system architectures, requirements, interfaces, design tradeoffs, and verification strategies.
  • Experience guiding cross-functional design alignment across hardware, firmware, software, and clinical disciplines to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Strong technical leadership, communication, and influence skills with the ability to lead without direct authority.
  • Experience working in a regulated development environment applying risk management, design controls, and relevant industry standards.
  • Advanced degree in biomedical, electrical, computer, systems engineering, or a related technical field (preferred).
  • Experience with Class II or III medical devices, particularly active implantable devices, neuromodulation, or other electro-mechanical therapy systems (preferred).
