Staff Software Engineer The Employee Benefits IT Team is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to modernize enterprise applications and drive AI enablement. In this role, you will partner with business, architecture, and engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions. You will modernize enterprise applications using Java, J2EE, Spring Boot, REST/SOAP services, JMS, XML, JSON, JDBC, Flink, and Apache Camel. What you'll do

Modernize enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, REST/SOAP services, and Apache Camel.
Build GenAI and agentic AI solutions for development agents, test agents, and workflow automation.
Develop Infrastructure as Code using CloudFormation, Terraform/CDK, and Python Lambda.
Lead AWS infrastructure standards, reusable cloud patterns, and production deployment practices.
Integrate DevOps practices including automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and observability into delivery work.
Translate business outcomes into secure, scalable, and production-ready technical solutions.
Mentor engineers and contribute to reusable patterns to improve overall engineering practices.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
5+ years of hands-on Java/J2EE experience including Spring Boot, REST/SOAP, JMS, XML, JSON, JDBC, Flink, and Apache Camel.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code, cloud automation, build specifications, and repeatable deployment patterns.
Experience designing and supporting secure, scalable, and maintainable applications in an enterprise environment.
Strong AWS experience including Lambda, SQS, SNS, S3, API Gateway, IAM, CloudWatch, CI/CD, observability, and production readiness.
Experience applying GenAI or agentic AI across engineering workflows for code generation, test automation, and workflow orchestration.
Ability to communicate across the organization and influence leadership, architecture, product, business, and engineering stakeholders.
