Staff Software Engineer

What you'll do

• Coordinate the activities of other engineers as a project or system leader.
• Determine specific technical tasks for other engineers to follow.
• Proactively improve existing engineering structures and processes.
• Reconcile competing priorities like time, quality, and risk to identify optimal solutions.
• Condense repetitive patterns into generalized, meaningful technical solutions.
• Collaborate with management to set and improve standards for engineering rigor.
• Represent the company to external partners, customers, and industry organizations.
• Drive architecture direction and lead cross-team initiatives while mentoring engineers.

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Good experience designing and building rule-based systems using custom DSLs with ANTLR or equivalent parser-generator frameworks (preferred).
• 6+ years of hands-on Java experience building decision engines, rule execution systems, and DSL runtime environments (preferred).
• 3+ years of experience designing and implementing Python backend services for collaborative rule authoring and API development (preferred).
• 4+ years of deep working knowledge of Kafka ecosystems for high-throughput, low-latency streaming and event-driven architectures (preferred).
• 3+ years of experience designing, deploying, and operating Kubernetes environments and deployment pipelines (preferred).
• 3+ years of experience building and operating cloud-native applications on GCP with strong SQL and BigQuery skills (preferred).
• Proven track record of driving architecture direction, mentoring engineers, and leading cross-team initiatives (preferred).
