Staff Software Engineer The Staff Software Engineer joins the Cloud Platform team to manage core cloud infrastructure and platforms that enable all types of workloads. As part of the next generation Container platform team, you will drive best practices in the PaaS/CaaS arena and build production topologies to support environmental issues. You will develop automations, dashboards, and monitoring/alerting systems to reduce time to detect and time to resolve issues. Key responsibilities include acting as a project leader, coordinating engineering activities, and improving existing structures. You must possess expertise in Golang, Java, or C/C++, along with experience in AWS, GCP, or Azure. Required skills include Terraform, Pulumi, shell scripting, Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, and distributed system principles to solve complex infrastructure and platform efficiency problems.

What you'll do

Lead technical projects by coordinating engineering activities and defining specific technical tasks for the team.
Develop and release cloud and container platform architectures to support production topologies.
Build automations, dashboards, and monitoring/alerting systems to reduce time to detect and resolve issues.
Troubleshoot and fix production issues to unblock developer and operations teams.
Participate in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation to support global platform operations.
Improve existing structures and processes to enhance platform efficiency, reliability, and performance.
Represent the company to external partners, customers, and industry organizations.

What we're looking for

5+ years of relevant development experience.
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Expertise in Golang and expertise in either Java or C/C++.
Expertise working with cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Hands-on experience with Cloud Ops, including IaC tools like Terraform or Pulumi and automation.
Expertise in shell scripting and strong Linux systems knowledge.
Strong working knowledge of Docker or containerd.
Working knowledge of Kubernetes or Docker swarm and deep understanding of distributed system principles.
Experience in building massively scalable high performance services (preferred).
Excellent problem solving skills (preferred).
Ability to identify performance bottlenecks (preferred).
Contribution in open source projects (preferred).
Experience in building highly available platforms running in production handling no downtime rollouts (preferred).
