As a Staff Software Computational Engineer within the Office of the CTO, you will join the plasma physics development team for Semiverse Solutions to develop and enhance VizGlow, a specialized plasma physics solver. You will be responsible for improving reactor hardware design, optimizing process recipes, and advancing the fundamental understanding of physics within reactor chambers. Your daily work involves developing and enhancing code focused on non-equilibrium plasmas, electromagnetics, reactive flows, and surface chemistry while implementing and optimizing algorithms in C++ for high-performance computing applications. You will collaborate with physicists to integrate new models, perform rigorous testing and debugging, and author technical reports. Required expertise includes experience with flow solvers, MPI, multithreading, OpenMP, and potentially GPU acceleration using CUDA or Kokkos. The role addresses complex computational fluid dynamics and multi-physics challenges in the semiconductor manufacturing domain.
Develop and enhance plasma physics code focusing on non-equilibrium plasmas, electromagnetics, reactive flows, and surface chemistry.
Implement and optimize high-performance computing algorithms using C++.
Integrate new physical models and features into the VizGlow solver based on physicist and engineer input.
Validate software functionality through rigorous testing and debugging of plasma physics code.
Maintain and improve the existing codebase to ensure reliability and performance.
Author technical reports summarizing software performance, defects, and enhancement requests.
Participate in planning and design discussions for software development projects.
What we're looking for
Master's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or a PhD with 5+ years of relevant experience in physics, plasmas, fluid mechanics, or a related field.
Experience developing flow solvers including pressure-based, multi-species reactive flows, turbulence modeling, and radiation modeling.
Proficiency in C++ software development.
Experience developing HPC codes using MPI, multithreading, and OpenMP.
Knowledge of non-equilibrium plasmas, electromagnetics, reactive flows, and surface chemistry.
Experience developing large-scale or commercial CFD or multi-physics software packages like COMSOL or Ansys Fluent.
Experience with GPU acceleration using libraries such as CUDA or Kokkos.
Familiarity with physics-based machine learning including PINNs, Graph Neural Networks, or Neural Operators.
