TL;DR · Staff Robotics Engineer, Manufacturing Automation

As a Staff Robotics Engineer, Manufacturing Automation, you will join the Manufacturing Automation team to design, integrate, and deploy automated manufacturing systems across factories at a national scale. You will manage the full lifecycle of industrial robots and cobots, from initial concept through production deployment. Daily responsibilities include developing motion planning, safety configurations, and vision-based guidance; designing robot cell layouts; and integrating end-of-arm tooling like grippers and sensors. You will utilize tools such as RoboDK, FANUC ROBOGUIDE, UR Virtual Controller, Delmia, Solidworks, NX, CATIA, or AutoCAD. Technical requirements include expertise in FANUC and UR systems, PLC programming via Rockwell and Siemens, and protocols like EtherNet/IP and Profinet. The role focuses on solving manufacturing production challenges by implementing safety standards, dispensing systems, and vision-based inspection for quality control within a defense technology context.

What you'll do

  • Select, design, and integrate industrial robots and cobots from initial concept through full production deployment.
  • Develop, optimize, and debug robot programs including motion planning, path planning, and vision-based guidance.
  • Specify, select, and integrate end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) such as grippers, sensors, and custom tools.
  • Design and manage robot cell layouts, including safety enclosures, work envelopes, and necessary infrastructure.
  • Implement and verify industrial safety functions in accordance with relevant safety standards.
  • Execute simulation models to validate robot reach, cycle time, and potential collisions before physical implementation.
  • Develop and enforce internal standards for robotic system design, programming, and integration.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in robotics and automation within a manufacturing production environment.
  • Expert proficiency in programming and commissioning FANUC and UR robots/cobots.
  • Significant experience using robot simulation software such as RoboDK, ROBOGUIDE, or UR Virtual Controller.
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial safety standards (ISO 10218, RIA R15.06) and related safety functions.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming (Rockwell and Siemens) and communication protocols like EtherNet/IP and Profinet.
  • Experience with EOAT design, vision system integration, and CAD software such as Solidworks or NX.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to access requirements for export-controlled information or facilities.
