As a Senior Automation Engineer, Manufacturing Automation, you will join the Manufacturing Automation team to design, integrate, and deploy automated manufacturing systems across factories at a national scale. You will develop and debug PLC code on Allen-Bradley or Siemens platforms for high-volume manufacturing while implementing defense-grade OT security practices such as air-gapped designs and Purdue-model layering. Required skills include proficiency in industrial Ethernet, VLANs, and integrating with MES and QMS platforms to solve complex production automation challenges within a regulated manufacturing environment.

What you'll do

Own control systems end-to-end including architecture, PLC/HMI development, commissioning, and sustainment handoff.
Deploy and maintain OT server infrastructure including MQTT brokers and jump hosts with strict change-control practices.
Design and maintain the OT networking stack for production using protocols like MQTT, OPC UA, and TCP/IP.
Diagnose protocol, timing, and VLAN segmentation issues through packet-level analysis.
Architect, develop, and debug structured PLC code on Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms for high-volume manufacturing.
Implement defense-grade OT security practices including air-gapped designs, network segmentation, and server hardening.
Integrate control systems with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Quality Management Systems (QMS).

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Information Technology, or a related field.
6+ years of experience in controls and automation in a production environment.
Strong proficiency in PLC programming on Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens platforms.
Proficiency in OPC UA and MQTT protocols across the OT stack including TCP/IP, industrial Ethernet, and VLANs with packet-level analysis.
Working knowledge of OT cybersecurity practices such as air-gapped networks, network segmentation, server hardening, and secure remote access.
Experience integrating controls systems with MES and QMS platforms (preferred).
Experience in regulated or defense manufacturing environments like ITAR/EAR, CMMC, or FDA/aerospace quality systems (preferred).
Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to export controlled information or facilities.
