The Staff Platform Security Engineer joins the security engineering team to define and advance secure target states, architecture patterns, and technical standards for products and shared services. This role involves building secure-by-default platform capabilities, leading complex cross-functional initiatives, and embedding security requirements into engineering workflows like CI/CD, infrastructure provisioning, and runtime operations. The engineer will lead design reviews, drive scalable controls, and translate policy into practical engineering solutions. Key technologies and skills include Cloud/AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes, policy as code, and security automation. The position addresses the technical challenge of securing high-availability, high-scale, and regulated technology environments by identifying systemic platform risks and mentoring engineers to foster a culture of secure engineering excellence across the entire software and infrastructure lifecycle.
Define secure target states, reference architectures, design patterns, and technical standards for platform capabilities.
Lead complex platform security engineering initiatives across multiple systems and engineering domains.
Conduct security engineering and design reviews for platform services and infrastructure patterns.
Implement scalable controls and secure-by-default capabilities to improve risk posture while reducing engineering friction.
Embed security requirements into CI/CD workflows, infrastructure provisioning, and service lifecycle management.
Identify and drive remediation of systemic platform risks and recurring control failures.
Evaluate and adopt new platform security technologies, patterns, and automation opportunities.
Translate policy and control expectations into practical engineering solutions and measurable guidance.
What we're looking for
Candidates must independently possess the eligibility to work in the United States.
Typically has 8 or more years of experience or a demonstrated portfolio consistent with the role's requirements.
Deep experience in platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, software engineering, cloud infrastructure, security engineering, or a combination of these domains.
Experience owning major technical initiatives involving secure platform design, control implementation, or engineering workflow transformation.
Strong experience defining standards, patterns, or reusable solutions adopted across multiple teams.
Demonstrated mentoring or technical leadership experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain complex technical risk and tradeoffs.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
