The Kubernetes Security Engineer joins the Apple Service Engineering Security team to protect the infrastructure powering services like iCloud and Siri. In this hands-on technical role, you will design, develop, and implement security frameworks, controls, tooling, and automation for large-scale Kubernetes platforms. You will collaborate with SREs and developers to drive adoption of security initiatives, respond to incidents, and ship complete products featuring monitoring and alerting. Required skills include deep experience with Kubernetes environments, software development in Golang, and scripting in Python. You will address platform-level security issues using technologies such as policy as code, workload identity, Linux security including SELinux and eBPF, SIEM tooling, GitOps, supply-chain security, container runtimes, image signing, admission control, and service mesh.
Design, develop, and implement security frameworks, controls, and automation for large-scale Kubernetes platforms.
Lead the resolution of security incidents affecting Kubernetes infrastructure.
Develop and ship complete security products including monitoring, alerting, and documentation.
Drive the adoption of security initiatives across Kubernetes platforms with SREs and developers.
Implement policy as code, workload identity, and Linux security features like SELinux or eBPF.
Develop security solutions using Golang and Python to address platform-level security concerns.
Manage cluster configuration monitoring, threat detection, and admission control systems.
What we're looking for
5+ years of experience in platform security, software engineering in infrastructure and application development, or a related security engineering discipline.
Deep, hands-on experience with Kubernetes environments at scale.
Extensive experience designing Kubernetes security solutions to solve platform-level security issues and concerns.
Software development skills in Golang and scripting skills in Python.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience (preferred).
Prior experience driving secure-by-default platform initiatives across a large engineering organization (preferred).
Hands-on experience with policy as code, workload identity, Linux security, SIEM tooling, GitOps, or service mesh (preferred).
