The Staff Agile Product Owner joins the Payload & Ground Software Engineering organization to support a ground program. Serving as an inward-facing technical planning and execution lead, this individual establishes the strategic vision for the software team’s technical roadmap and oversees the closure of epics. The role involves representing product management and customer interests by collaborating with managers to define work, prioritizing tasks during program increments, and ensuring the development team understands feature requirements and acceptance criteria. Key responsibilities include converting technical and business requirements into epics, features, and user stories while managing the backlog. Required skills include experience in Agile delivery frameworks, product lifecycles, and roadmap development. Technical competencies include the Atlassian tool suite, Python, AWS services, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines. Set a strategic vision for technical execution and serve as authority over the team's technical roadmap.
Represent Product Management and customer interests within the Agile development team.
Convert technical and business requirements into Epics, Features, and User Stories.
Prioritize work during program increments to ensure the team is aligned on acceptance criteria.
Manage and dictate the priority of the product backlog continuously.
Conduct demonstrations of software products to users, leadership, and stakeholders.
Ensure the development team understands the intent and requirements of all feature definitions.
What we're looking for
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance and U.S. Citizenship.
12 years of experience with a Bachelor's, 10 with a Master's, or 8 with a PhD; alternatively, 14 years with an Associate's or 16 years without a degree.
3+ years of experience working in a software Agile delivery framework.
3+ years of experience with product lifecycles for new and existing products.
2+ years of product roadmap development experience.
Experience converting technical and business requirements into Epics, Features, and User Stories.
Technical experience developing and fielding command and control systems (TT&C, Flight Dynamics, etc.) for Space Systems.
Product owner or other major Agile certification (preferred); experience as a Scrum Master (preferred).
