What you'll do

  • Implement systems engineering across various electrical systems, electronic components, and software applications.
  • Perform detailed design, development, qualification, and ship integration of major submarine electrical systems.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure component requirements and specifications are met.
  • Design, develop, and test software architecture for electrical systems.
  • Implement unique cybersecurity requirements for shipboard electrical systems.
  • Manage network security for air-gapped and standalone development environments.
  • Develop electric plant designs and technology innovations for next-generation fast attack submarines.
  • Resolve electrical system design construction issues by engaging with designers and construction trades.

What we're looking for

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • US citizenship is required.
  • Must pass a medical screening, drug test, and potential DOD investigation.
  • Must be enrolled full-time in a college or university.
  • Must have completed at least one year of college before the start of the internship.
  • Must be available to work 40 hours per week for at least eight consecutive weeks during the Summer 2027 season.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Marine, Software, Computer, Network, Security, Cybersecurity, Biomedical, or Energy Systems Engineering.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Office).
