The Western Region Systems Engineering organization within Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal Cyber Systems Engineer (Level 3) or Sr. Principal Cyber Systems Engineer (Level 4). This role involves performing technical planning, system integration, verification, and validation for total systems across the concept, design, fabrication, and operation phases. You will translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications while developing Program Protection Plans, Anti-Tamper Plans, and Technology Assessment and Control Plans. Key responsibilities include coordinating NIST RMF 800-53 controls, ASD STIG requirements, and conducting criticality analyses to identify risk mitigations. You will assess system vulnerabilities using the DoD Cyber T&E Guidebook and evaluate acquisition documents for compliance. Required skills include a STEM degree, cyber systems experience, and the ability to obtain a CISSP and DoD secret clearance.
Perform technical planning, system integration, verification, validation, cost, and risk analyses for total systems.
Convert customer requirements into hardware and software specifications while accounting for technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Develop and update Program Protection Plans (PPPs), Anti-Tamper Plans (ATPs), and Technology Assessment and Control Plans (TA/CPs).
Coordinate the design, implementation, and documentation of NIST RMF 800-53 controls and ASD STIG requirements.
Assess system vulnerabilities and mission risks using the DoD Cyber T&E Guidebook to evaluate resilience against cyber threats.
Evaluate acquisition documents for compliance with Critical Program Information (CPI) and Critical Components (CCs) protection requirements.
Support supplier change proposals and provide security assessments in accordance with system contracts and acquisition plans.
Lead the program office System Security Working Group (SSWG) meetings and conduct Criticality Analyses (CAs).
What we're looking for
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret security clearance or higher.
Ability to obtain a CISSP within 6 months of hire.
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field and 5 years of related technical experience, OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM field and 3 years of related technical experience, OR a PhD in a STEM field and 1 year of related technical experience (Level 3).
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field and 8 years of related technical experience, OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM field and 6 years of related technical experience, OR a PhD in a STEM field and 4 years of related technical experience (Level 4).
Experience reviewing and implementing NIST RMF controls and DISA ASD STIGs (preferred).
Experience with DOD Cyber T&E Guidebook (preferred).
Current and active DoD security clearance (preferred).
