Senior Power Electronics Engineer, AI Satellites

What you'll do

• Design, analyze, and test DC-DC power converters for harsh space environments.
• Perform design trades and develop requirements for electrical power systems and subsystems.
• Define and execute verification testing and analysis for electrical power systems.
• Develop high-efficiency power conversion and control systems for orbital AI compute platforms.
• Engineer hardware for diverse applications including battery systems, motors, actuators, and ion propulsion.
• Model and simulate power electronics to ensure reliability in extreme conditions.
• Design custom magnetics, including wire-wound and planar inductors and transformers.
• Implement fault-tolerant designs and perform failure mode effects and criticality analysis.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
• Master's degree in electrical engineering or a related field is preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in power converter development.
• Experience with DC-DC power converter development, including modeling, simulation, and testing.
• Experience with magnetics, including the design of custom transformers, inductors, and planar magnetics.
• Proficiency in analog control, discrete logic design, and voltage/current mode control.
• Familiarity with spacecraft electrical power systems, radiation effects, and lithium-ion battery safety.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible for required export control authorizations.
