TL;DR · Senior Perf/Sim/App Engineer

The Sr Perf/Sim/App Engineer joins the Integrated Drivetrain Energy Solutions division to support the development and integration of high-voltage electrical systems for electrified machine platforms. This role involves translating machine requirements into detailed electrical designs, designing high-voltage cable and harness systems, and integrating power sources and electric drivetrains into prototype machines. The engineer performs electrical system commissioning, troubleshooting, and validation while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Key technical requirements include experience with electrical schematics, CAN communications, datalink network architectures, and FMEA validation methods. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency using Creo and Visualization Mockup to audit wiring harness routing in 3D models. This position addresses the technical challenge of developing zero-emissions products, including batteries, fuel cells, and inverters for industrial electrification.

What you'll do

  • Develop high-voltage electrical system architectures and translate machine requirements into detailed electrical designs.
  • Design high-voltage cable and harness systems including sizing, fusing coordination, routing, and assembly.
  • Integrate power sources, electric drivetrains, and accessory systems into prototype and testbed machines.
  • Support component selection, electrical design reviews, risk assessments, and overall system performance validation.
  • Perform electrical system commissioning, troubleshooting, and validation while ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and global engineering teams to resolve technical issues and develop electrification best practices.
  • Monitor advancements in electrification technologies to enhance system designs and engineering standards.
  • Document technical findings and communicate project outcomes to engineering and business stakeholders.

What we're looking for

  • Experience designing, installing, and troubleshooting electrical wiring and harness systems, including schematics and system integration.
  • Working knowledge of machine electrical components, CAN communications, datalink network architectures, and FMEA validation methods.
  • Experience using Creo and Visualization Mockup to develop, review, and audit electrical system designs and 3D models.
  • Experience developing and integrating high-voltage electrical systems for electrified machines or vehicles (preferred).
  • Proven success in troubleshooting, commissioning, and validating prototype machines to resolve complex electrical issues (preferred).
  • Demonstrated commitment to high-voltage safety standards, risk assessments, and safe commissioning of prototype machines (preferred).
  • Expertise in wiring harness design, Creo Schematics, and common electrical architectures across multiple platforms (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, computer, automotive, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience (preferred).
