Lead the design, prototyping, and characterization of hardware for inter-satellite and space-to-ground optical links.
Manage vendor relationships to qualify commercial components and develop custom parts for reliable, low-cost systems.
Direct design verification and qualification testing efforts while establishing standards for engineering excellence.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in collaboration with stakeholders to ensure link performance.
Analyze large volumes of data to identify risks and opportunities for improving system designs.
Drive organizational best practices regarding operational excellence, security, and quality across the team.
Mentor and coach team members to improve their technical knowledge and capabilities.
Influence technical and business strategies by making informed trade-offs between short-term needs and long-term goals.
What we're looking for
Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or granted asylum/refugee status for export control compliance.
3+ years of experience in automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell, and/or Perl.
8+ years of experience with major internet routing protocols.
5+ years of experience working in a Linux/Unix environment.
Experience in high-speed characterization of devices, including the use of electrical probe stations and high-frequency test equipment like oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.
Experience with lasers, detectors, modulators, modems, optical fiber, and related components.
Experience developing test scripts for automation, data acquisition, and data analysis.
A Master's or PhD degree in Physics, Electronics, Optical Engineering, or Communication Engineering is preferred.
