Senior Optical Network Engineer, Inter-satellite Link Avionics

What you'll do

• Lead the design, prototyping, and characterization of hardware for intersatellite and space-to-ground optical links.
• Qualify commercial off-the-shelf components and drive the development of custom hardware to meet performance requirements.
• Lead design verification and qualification testing efforts to establish engineering excellence standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in collaboration with stakeholders to deliver functional optical links.
• Analyze large volumes of data to identify design gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Drive engineering best practices in Operational Excellence, Security, and Quality across the organization.
• Mentor and coach team members to improve technical knowledge and organizational capabilities.
• Influence technical and business strategy by making sound trade-offs between short-term needs and long-term objectives.

What we're looking for

• Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum.
• 3+ years of automation scripting experience using Python, Bash, Shell, and/or Perl.
• 8+ years of experience with major internet routing protocols.
• 5+ years of experience working in a Linux/Unix environment.
• Experience in high-speed characterization of devices using oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and electrical probe stations.
• Experience with lasers, detectors, modulators, modems, optical fiber, and related devices.
• Master's or PhD Degree in Physics, Electronics, Optical Engineering, or Communication Engineering (preferred).
