Senior Mechanical Engineer, Electronics Packaging, Avionics Mechanical

What you'll do

• Own the mechanical design and development of spacecraft avionics hardware from initial concept through flight.
• Develop robust packaging architectures for circuit boards, connectors, harnesses, and electronic assemblies in partnership with electrical engineers.
• Perform engineering trade studies to balance performance, reliability, manufacturability, mass, cost, and schedule.
• Design mechanical solutions to protect electronics from launch loads, vibration, thermal cycling, radiation, and the space environment.
• Design qualification hardware, production fixtures, inspection tooling, and test equipment for manufacturing and verification.
• Lead root cause investigations and implement design improvements throughout the product lifecycle.
• Mentor junior engineers and raise the technical bar across the organization.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in hardware design and validation of components, subsystems, and systems.
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
• Proficiency in using CAD tools to develop detailed mechanical designs and engineering documentation.
• Experience conducting engineering trade studies and making data-driven technical decisions.
• Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and engineering best practices.
• Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
